Agriculture is a key sector of the Nigerian economy. For the transformation of the Nigerian agriculture to a modern scientific and technology-driven sector, the training of appropriate manpower is imperative. Our objective is to produce graduates who are not just job-seekers but prospective entrepreneurs, as well as those who could contribute meaningfully to research and policy.
In addition to having acceptable grade in the University Matriculation Examination (UME), a candidate for admission into the Bachelor of Agriculture (B. Agric.) programme must obtain in not more than two sittings the following grades:
(i) Credit in English Language
(ii) Credit in Chemistry
(iii) Credit in Biology or Credit in Agricultural Science with at least a pass in Biology
(iv) Credit in Mathematics
(v) Any other to make up for the minimum of five credits
(vi) At least a pass in Physics.
Holders of N.C.E, N.D. in Agriculture or related discipline with not less than merit level and five credit passes in the prescribe subjects above may be considered for direct admission into the 200 level. Holders of A” level passes in the relevant subjects will also be considered for direct into 200 level. Holders of H.N.D with not less than merit pass may be admitted into the 300 level provided such candidates have met the minimum UME requirements.
