Architectural education in the university is a two-tier B.Sc./M.Sc. degree structure. The structure consists of four years of general study leading to the award of B.Sc. Architecture and further two years of professional qualification leading to the award of the degree of M.Sc. Architecture. To be eligible for admission into the M.Sc. degree programme Candidate must have successfully completed the B.Sc. degree programme and must have passed with a minimum of second class Hon. Lower Division.
To produce a competent, skilled, and versatile architect capable of facing a wide range of challenges of the environment for human and other activities.
The school aims at exploring the diverse cultural and traditional architectural resources in the country, and within its immediate environment in particular.
The school attempts to inculcate in the student architect the understanding of the environmental problems of the society, and makes effort towards proffering climatologically appropriate solutions to these problems.
The graduate architect is trained in the art and science of planning, design, building, commissioning, maintenance, management and coordinating of allied professional inputs in the development of the environment.
The programme is flexible to allow for the changing needs of architectural education arising from changing social, economic, psychological and technological requirements.

A high-quality of professional education aimed at producing architects capable of understanding and solving complex technical and environmental problems as well as applying the knowledge to tackle and coordinate other related professional inputs in the development of the environment.
The infusion in the student of an understanding of the context of the design and construction in physical, cultural, social, economic, and technological terms;
Equipping the student with adequate knowledge, creativity, specialized skills, and leadership capabilities that will enable him/her coordinate and control the design and construction processes and inputs by allied professionals and executors;
Providing the student with the knowledge and skill base from which he/she can proceed to further studies in architecture and related areas.
Providing the student with entrepreneurial knowledge and skills to enable him/her become self-reliant.
UTME Candidates with credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and any of the following Technical Drawing, Fine Art, Geography and Economics at SSCE level, GCE 'O' level or its equivalent are eligible for admission.
(i) Candidates who fulfill the 'O' level admission requirements who have obtained GCE 'A' level, HSC or equivalent passes in Mathematics and Physics, or OND Architectural Technology at least at credit level are eligible for admission into level 200.
(ii) Candidates who fulfill the 'O' level admission requirements and who hold the HND in Architectural Technology at least credit level are eligible for admission into level 300.
